Every year, the MS Wissenschaft is sent on tour as an exhibition ship with hands-on exhibits in keeping with the theme of the Year of Science. This year's theme is "Our Universe".
The SFB TerraQ has placed models of the GRACE-FO satellite mission on board as an exhibit. You can hang "test masses" between the satellites and observe how different masses change the distance between the satellites.
Some of the researchers involved work with the data collected by the satellites and others have co-developed the laser interferometer, which is installed in the satellites to measure the distance, and are also working on the further development of this technology in the CRC.
The MS Wissenschaft will anchor in Hannover from 28 June to 1 July 2023. In this context, "Meet the Scientists" will be offered on several days:
